Welcome to the Rotary Club of Amherst!

We are delighted to be able to share information about the Rotary Club of Amherst with you because we have an awesome story to tell!  It is our goal to keep the information here current and easily accessible to our members and to those interested in learning about our exceptional organization.

Our Rotary Club provides service within our local and global communities. Organizations seeking support are invited to contact us and submit a request for support.

Would you like to help make a difference in the world?  Would you like to work for the benefit of your community?  Why not consider becoming a member of Rotary.  If you are interested, contact any Rotarian to discuss how you might become involved.

Internationally

Internationally, we provide support to organizations and communities in need. Currently, we , as part of the Rotary International initiative, are contributing financially to the eradication of polio in the world. Challenged by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, members of Rotary International are working to raise funds through the Gates Foundation.

Community

Throughout the world, natural disasters and war create an ongoing need for human and community support. With Rotary's extensive network of clubs, we are able to give assistance to many of these people very quickly. Our Rotary Foundation coordinates these efforts and ensures that the money supplied by Rotarians and others all is spent on those in need. Only some of the interest on donations supports this organization's administration, so donors' dollars all go to where the need is greatest and, with local volunteers supporting efforts on the ground, there is confidence for donors that their contributions directly benefit those in need.

Fundraisers

During the year we have two major fundraisers to provide money to maintain Camp Tidnish, our summer camp which now is operated by Easter Seals for children and adults who live with challenging disabilities. We also contribute annually to the Cumberland Regional Library and to the Cumberland Transportation Society to transport the children to the Amherst PreSchool . Over the years, we have been among the first supporters of many capital campaigns such as the new hospital and expansion, the Amherst YMCA, the Cumberland County Museum.

Long Term Projects

Currently, the Rotary Park on Willow St. is our long term project. In celebration of the Rotary Anniversary, we purchased the park and have partnered with the Town of Amherst to develop it into a community facility. Everyone is welcome to use the facilities and take advantage of this wonderful spot for physical and social activity.
